White Marmotte is run by Ian Huyton, a top-qualified ski instructor and international mountain leader. We live in Chamonix at the foot of Mont Blanc. As the birthplace of Alpinism, this base is ideal for skiing, hiking, mountain biking or trail running in spectacular scenery. Although based in Chamonix, we also run activities in the Ecrins from time to time, particluarly around our former home in Les Deux Alpes.

In the summer we offer private and group guided hiking, multi-day trekking, and skills courses. We are accredited with NNAS in the UK to offer NNAS Navigator Awards and the Outdoor Discovery Award. We run two-day NNAS navigation courses throughout the year and have launched our 4-day mini Tour du Mont Blanc for summer 2023.

In winter we work with Freedom Snowsports to offer ski lessons at all levels from beginner to on- or off-piste performance, as well as ski touring. Ian is also an accredited formateur with ANENA, the French associatio for the study of snow and avalanches. This means we can run ANENA accredited avalanche training courses.
